Adriaan Fuchs assumed the position of CEO and Artistic Director of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in January 2026. He brings more than two decades of international experience in artistic planning, fundraising, and marketing across classical music and related genres.

Prior to returning to South Africa, Fuchs served as Director: Festivals and Special Projects at Carnegie Hall, where he oversaw the Hall’s major citywide festivals and special presentations. He previously held the role of Director of Artistic Planning and Touring at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, managing national and international touring across North America, Europe, and Asia.

His career has included collaborations with leading orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Cleveland Orchestra. He has produced concerts featuring artists including María Dueñas, Alexander Malofeev, Jeanine De Bique, Benjamin Appl, Patti LuPone, Ute Lemper, and Bernadette Peters, and has partnered with major cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Opera.

Originally from South Africa, Fuchs previously served as Festival Director of the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival and as Business Development Manager at Cape Town Opera. He holds a Bachelor of Music and an MPhil in Music Technology from Stellenbosch University, and an MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, all earned with distinction.
