Nicholas Bruiners

Nicholas Bruiners, who joined the CPO in the first violin section in April 2023,  completed his BMus in Performance with distinction at the University of Cape Town in 2022, under the tutelage of Professor Farida Bacharova. During his studies, he won several prizes such as the Chamber Music Prize, the Leonard Hall Prize, and the Alfred Libochowitz Prize. He is currently working towards his Honours in Performance (2023).

He comes to the CPO after playing as an ad hoc musician for three years, and was co-leader of the CPYO. He also performed as part of the MIAGI orchestra in 2018, was leader of the University of Cape Town’s Symphony Orchestra for a couple of years, and leader of the symphony orchestra in the  Stellenbosch’s International Chamber Music Festival in 2022. Other prizes he has won include a first with his chamber groups in the Schock Foundation Chamber Music Competition in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Nicholas has received master classes from Alexander Gilman, Daniel Rowland, Michal Buczkowski, and Philippe Graffin.
