Zukisani Mafilika

Zukisani Mafilika, appointed office assistant in July 2024 after a year as an intern, displayed a natural inclination towards choral and classical music from his early years growing up in Khayelitsha.

He was influenced by his grandfather, a choral conductor who introduced him to different music genres too, even he wanted Zukisani to be a civil engineer.  Following his grandfather’s dream Zukisani, matriculated from an engineering high school, but didn’t continue and his passion for composing choral music, which he loves conducting, began to drive this life. His dream now is to study music and concentrate on the piano, in the mean time working in an environment he has already made his own. He continues to work with the Masidlale programme, spearheading the choral section.
